When the Walks are Long

WHEN THE WALKS ARE LONG
AND THE SUN BELTS DOWN
ALWAYS REMEMBER,
TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN;

LOOK AT THE TREES
LOOK AT THE SKY
BE AMAZED BY NATURE,
BY THE BIRDS THAT FLY;

BREATHE IN FRESH AIR
AS YOU TAKE ANOTHER STRIDE
THINK OF HOW YOU’LL REST,
AT NIGHT, WEARY AND TIRED;

WHILE IN YOUR TENT
WHICH BARELY FITS TWO
FEEL PEACE IN THE MOMENT,
TOMORROW’S JOURNEY IS NEW;

IN THE WORDS OF A HIKER
WHO REACHED THE PEAK
“WITH ONE MOUNTAIN CLIMBED,
NOW ANOTHER I MUST SEEK”.
